Urgent 6cm Diameter Tumor Surgical Removal from Patient’s Left Atrium

On 27th January, 2018, Dr. Evangelos Sivitanides and his surgical team at the Cardiac Surgery Department at YGIA Polyclinic, successfully performed an emergency surgery to remove a 6cm diameter tumor from the left atrium of a 47 year old dying woman.

The positive postoperative condition of the patient is undoubtedly due to the early diagnosis of her medical condition by the Cardiology Team at the Limassol General Hospital and their immediate mobilization with the referral of the 47 year old woman to our Cardiac Surgery Department for further treatment.

Just the day after of the surgery, the patient was removed from intubation, with the excitement of her 5 year old child at the sight of his recovering mother, moving all present.  After 6 days of treatment, the 47 year old, now in good health, returned to her family, while the joy and relief on her child’s face was especially evident.

This example demonstrates just how important for our society is the cooperation between the Public and Private Sector.
