The specialized Breast Center of Ygia Polyclinic, is able to perform all imaging examinations and interventional procedures related to the prevention and diagnosis of breast diseases.

Equipped with the most advanced digital mammography of the latest technology, which represents the most pioneering way of detecting breast cancer with three-dimensional (3D) tomosynthesis, the Selenia Dimensions System® by the American company Hologic, which leads internationally in the evolution of most diagnostic methods, the Breast Department of Ygia Polyclinic is able to guarantee the accuracy of the diagnosis.

The advanced equipment provides the ability to perform the full range of biopsies on palpable and non-palpable breast lesions, such as: Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) guided by ultrasound for cytological examination, Core Biopsy guided by ultrasound for histological examination and Stereotactic Biopsy. Especially in the case of Stereotactic Biopsy, it is performed through guidance from the most modern digital mammography Hologic. The sampling is done bloodlessly and painlessly, ensuring an excellent aesthetic result, given the minimal size of the incision.

In order to provide the best possible service to the patient, the patient visiting the breast department has the possibility to undergo all necessary diagnostic tests (imaging and biopsy) in the same visit.

Additionally, the department is equipped with high-resolution ultrasound Logic 9 GE for breast examinations. Ultrasound has the ability to investigate various findings, with the aim of immediate and reliable diagnosis. The machine is equipped with Shear Wave Elastography technique which provides quantitative measurement of the elasticity of various breast lesions in kPa.
