Dr Georgios Georgiou
Dr. Georgios Georgiou is a specialist in General Surgery and Proctology with extensive training in Germany. He graduated from the University of Debrecen Medical School in Hungary. Following his studies in Hungary, he worked for twelve years in major clinics in Germany, gaining significant experience and specialization in advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery techniques.
After completing the required years of surgical training, successfully passing all corresponding exams, he was awarded the title of Specialist in General/Gastrointestinal Surgery (Facharzt für Viszeralchirurgie) by the German Medical Association (Ärztekammer Nordrhein-Westfalen). He has attended numerous surgical and proctological conferences in Germany and other countries, acquiring exceptional knowledge and practical skills. He holds approved certification for performing ultrasound examinations of the trunk, thorax, and abdominal regions from the German Ultrasound Society (DEGUM – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin).
He worked as Senior Consultant at the Clinic for General, Gastrointestinal, and Oncological Surgery at Sana Krankenhaus Gerresheim, Düsseldorf. During his tenure at the clinic, Dr. Georgiou showed particular interest in colorectal surgery and underwent further training in proctology. After a short period, he obtained specialization in Proctology from the German Medical Association (Ärztekammer Nordrhein-Westfalen). He also served as a surgical trainer for resident doctors at the clinic.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Georgiou performed numerous open and laparoscopic-minimally invasive surgeries during his tenure, including surgeries for patients with colorectal cancer or other diseases of the large and small intestines, proctological diseases, as well as patients with a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions such as abdominal hernias and gallbladder stones.
Dr. Georgiou is a member of the German Medical Association (Ärztekammer Nordrhein-Westfalen), the Cyprus Medical Association, and the Hellenic Society of Coloproctology.
