Dr Nektario Papa

Dr. Nektario K. Papa is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with extensive clinical experience and a strong scientific background in the modern management of vascular diseases. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras and holds a PhD, having trained and worked in major university and general hospitals in Greece and abroad. He completed his specialization in General Surgery at the University Hospital of Ioannina and in Vascular Surgery at “Laiko” General Hospital of Athens and “Konstantopouleio – Patission” General Hospital, while also serving as a Clinical and Research Fellow at the Vascular Surgery Unit of the University of Ioannina.

His doctoral thesis, entitled “Post Implantation Syndrome after Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms,” was awarded with distinction in 2016 and formed the basis for further academic and research activity. His expertise has been further enhanced through international clinical training, postgraduate programs, and participation in specialized courses and hands-on workshops focusing on advanced endovascular techniques, aortic endografts, thrombosis, antithrombotic therapy, and complex hybrid vascular procedures in recognized European centers. His scientific work includes numerous publications in peer-reviewed international medical journals and awards for presentations at international vascular surgery congresses.

Clinically, Dr. Papa has broad experience in advanced vascular and endovascular procedures, including EVAR, TEVAR, fenestrated and branched repairs, carotid interventions, peripheral vascular surgery, angioplasties, venous surgery, and the creation and revision of hemodialysis vascular access. A key strength of his practice is his advanced expertise in vascular ultrasound, essential for accurate diagnosis, optimal treatment planning, and the performance of modern image-guided endovenous therapies for varicose veins. Since January 2026, he has been serving as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at HYGEIA Polyclinic Private Hospital, providing high-level, evidence-based vascular care focused on safety, effectiveness, and optimal quality of life for patients.
