Dr Christos Demponeras

Dr. Demboneras graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bologna, Italy. He obtained his license to practice medicine in Italy after successfully passing the national medical licensing examinations with distinction. He subsequently completed his specialization in Cardiology in 2009, training at Hippokration Hospital and KAT General Hospital in Athens.

He also holds a subspecialty qualification in Intensive Care Medicine, which he acquired through training in the University Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at KAT Hospital and certification examinations completed in 2012.

Dr. Demboneras has served as an Attending Physician in the Intensive Care Units of several major hospitals in Athens, including KAT General Hospital, the General and Oncology Hospital of Kifissia “Agioi Anargyroi”, Mitera–Hygeia Hospital, and “Sotiria” Athens Chest Diseases Hospital. He has also been Head of the Cardiology Clinic and the COVID & Long COVID Clinic at Sotiria Hospital, as well as Director of the Multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit at Sotiria Hospital during its establishment and operation, with particular responsibility for percutaneous tracheostomy procedures.

Dr. Demboneras is an instructor for tracheostomy training seminars and a European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Full Instructor for ALS (Advanced Life Support), ILS (Immediate Life Support), and BLS (Basic Life Support). He is also an instructor in Emergency Pre-Hospital Medicine for the Athens National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAB). In addition, he has taught at the EKAB Vocational Training Institute (IEK EKAB) in Athens, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

He is a member of the CPR/ICU Working Group of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology.

Dr. Demboneras currently serves as an in house doctor and Director of the Intensive Care Unit at YGIA Polyclinic.
