Dr Markos Agathangelou
Dr. Agathangelou Nearchos-Markos was born in Cyprus. After graduating from the Medical School of the University of Athens and receiving his initial training at the hospitals in Cyprus, he traveled to South Africa, where he specialized in Cardiology. In Johannesburg, he trained for several years at the University of Witwatersrand under two renowned and respected international authorities in Cardiology, Professors Leo Schamroth and John Barlow, eventually reaching the position of Consultant.
In 1980, he was awarded the title of Medical Specialty in Cardiology by the University of Athens, and in 2000, he was conferred the title of "European Cardiologist." In 2012, he was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer by the University of Nicosia and St George's University of London, and in July 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine.
On June 5, 2009, he received a full Certificate of Registration as a Specialist in the UK from the General Medical Council. He is a member, fellow, and holder of diplomas and certificates from numerous scientific organizations, including: (a) Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology [FESC], (b) Diploma of Specialist Clinician for Hypertension [European Society of Hypertension], (c) ACLS Certificate accredited by the American College of Emergency Cardiac Support, among others.
Dr. Agathangelou runs a clinic in Limassol, is a member of the GESY, and is an affiliated physician of the YGEIA Polyclinic.
