Dr Alexandros Papadopoulos

Dr. Alexandros Papadopoulos graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.), receiving his degree with the distinction “Very Good – Grade 8/10.”

He completed his mandatory rural medical service, initially working as a rural physician at the Primary Health Care Units of Sarti and Sykia in Halkidiki, as well as at the General Hospital of Halkidiki (Polygyros), where he participated in general surgical on-calls, assisted in surgeries, and outpatient clinics. He then served at the Primary Healthcare Unit of Toichio in Kastoria, with similar duties in the surgical department of the General Hospital of Kastoria.

He began his specialty training with a one-year residency in General Surgery at the 424 Military Hospital of Thessaloniki (424 GSNE), followed by a four-year residency in Urology at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Agios Dimitrios”, where he completed the specialty.

During this period, he also collaborated as a Scientific Associate with the 1st University Department of Neurology (MS Center), performing urodynamic studies on patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

He was awarded the official title of Urologist after successfully passing the national board exams (written and oral) in January 2022.

Dr. Papadopoulos worked as a Consultant Urologist at St. Luke's Private Hospital in Panorama, Thessaloniki, where he was an active member of the robotic urology team (UROSURG). There, he gained extensive experience in the full spectrum of robotic and laparoscopic urologic surgery.

He then moved to Cyprus, where he served as a Consultant Urologist at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, covering operating theatres, outpatient clinics, and the emergency department (A&E) until March 2024.

Subsequently, he remained within the Cyprus National Health System (GESY) and collaborated with both the Limassol Clinic and Ygia Polyclinic, where he continues to practice to this day.

From September 2024 to September 2025, Dr. Papadopoulos relocated to Galway, Ireland, to join the Galway Clinic after being awarded the ccERUS Robotic Fellowship, a prestigious one-year fellowship program offered by the ERUS section (Robotic Urology Section) of the European Association of Urology (EAU).

This fellowship involved advanced training in robotic surgery, under continuous supervision and assessment by the ORSI Academy (Belgium, Ghent). Upon completion, he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.
