Dr Eleftherios Koulouteris

Dr Eleftherios Koulouteris is a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience, based in Limassol, Cyprus. He graduated with honours (“Cum Laude”) from the Szent Györgyi Albert Medical University (University of Szeged) in Hungary in 1999, and completed his specialty in General Surgery at the Ippokrateio General Hospital of Thessaloniki in 2007. Since 2008 he has practised and operated at Ygia Polyclinic, where he is a Partner Doctor, alongside his private practice at Dr. Koulouteris Surgery Clinic in Limassol.

He has trained further in Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery at leading centres in Greece, France, Scotland and India, and holds the titles of D.MAS (Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery) and F.MAS (Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery), awarded by the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons.

Dr Koulouteris has a particular interest in the treatment of abdominal wall hernias, by both laparoscopic and open surgery, and in the treatment of haemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus and anal fistulas using advanced laser technology — LHP® (Laser Hemorrhoidoplasty), SiLaC® (Sinus Laser Closure) and FiLaC® (Fistula Tract Laser Closure) — as well as the minimally invasive VAAFT procedure (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment).

Alongside these, he performs the full range of general surgical procedures: breast and thyroid surgery, biliary surgery for gallstones and cholecystitis, surgery of the stomach and the small and large bowel, and the surgical removal of skin lesions such as moles, lipomas, cysts and ingrown nails.

He is one of the few doctors in Cyprus specialising in wound management and in the treatment of pressure injuries and ulcers, and serves as President of the Cyprus Wound Management Society.

Dr Koulouteris is a member of the Board of the Cyprus Surgical Society. He is also a member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), the European Hernia Society, the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS), the Cyprus Medical Association and the General Medical Council (UK).
