Dr Triantafyllos Giannakopoulos
Dr. Triantafyllos Giannakopoulos is a highly experienced Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with advanced training in Greece and leading European centers. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Hellenic Military Corps Officer School. He served for several years on board Hellenic Navy ships and in Naval Hospitals as a Medical Officer. He completed his specialty training in Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital “Attikon” in Athens, acquiring a strong clinical foundation in the management of complex arterial and venous disease.
His expertise was further refined through international fellowships and advanced academic training. Dr. Giannakopoulos is a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He completed a prestigious clinical fellowship at Klinikum Nürnberg Süd in Germany, gaining extensive experience in complex aortic pathology, including abdominal and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms treated with advanced endovascular techniques such as fenestrated and branched endografting. He has completed three postgraduate MSc degrees at the University of Athens, the University of Thessaly, and Lille University Medical School, focusing on endovascular techniques, aortic endoprostheses, and advanced vascular ultrasound imaging.
A core area of his clinical practice is the endovascular and hybrid treatment of abdominal and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (EVAR, FEVAR, ChEVAR). His expertise also includes peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, and vascular access surgery for patients with chronic renal failure. He completed his doctoral research (PhD) on carotid artery stenting and remains actively involved in scientific research, publications, and peer review for internationally recognized journals. He also contributes to medical education through teaching in postgraduate programs at the University of Athens and the University of Thessaly.
Dr. Giannakopoulos is widely recognized for his high-level expertise in vascular ultrasound imaging, which plays a central role in diagnosis, treatment planning, and image-guided minimally invasive interventions. This expertise supports excellent outcomes in modern endovenous therapies for venous insufficiency, including laser, radiofrequency, MOCA, foam sclerotherapy, and cyanoacrylate closure, addressing both medical and aesthetic concerns. Since January 2026, he serves as Lead Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Ygia Polyclinic in Limassol, offering state-of-the-art vascular care within the largest private hospital in Cyprus & within the General Health System (GESY) framework.
