Dr Omeros Artemiou

Dr. Omeros Artemiou was born in Nicosia Cyprus and is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over three decades of experience in adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery. He is a graduate of the University of Vienna, where he earned his Doctor Medicinae Universae degree and completed his specialist training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2002 under Prof. Ernst Wolner, Prof. Michael Müller, and Prof. Manfred Deutsch. During his presence at the University Clinics in Vienna, he was an active member of the Lung Transplant Group under Prof. Walter Klepetko.

Dr. Artemiou contributed to pioneering work in lung transplantation and established a Ηeart and Lung Transplant cooperation Program between Austria and Cyprus, facilitating the treatment of a significant number of Cypriot patients with end-stage cardiac and pulmonary disease.

In 2004, he was invited by the Ministry of Health of Cyprus to develop and lead a Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit in Limassol.

In recent years, he focused predominantly on General Thoracic Surgery, with particular focus on complex/advanced oncologic thoracic procedures. He is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons and has an extensive scientific portfolio with numerous peer-reviewed publications and lectures at international conferences. Dr. Artemiou holds the academic title of Clinical Assistant Professor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the European University Cyprus.
